How does the IFS ensure the quality of your products
As the retailer, you need to ensure the quality of your products. You must check whether your suppliers are in a position to manufacture a product according to your requirements. This usually involves specifications that go beyond legislation. In 2003, in collaboration with suppliers, we created a new standard which sets out the requirements suppliers must fulfil, so that you, the Retailer, do not need to audit them on a regular basis. We focused mainly on the companies' processes and their ability to implement your specifications.
Since then we have been continuously developing this standard, known as IFS Food, in collaboration with retailers. This enables you to reduce your quality assurance costs substantially without compromising on quality. In addition, we provide you with a database that allows you not only to monitor all your existing suppliers, but also to find new partners. In response to increasing growth and demands in the retail industry, we have been continuously expanding our portfolio and now offer six further standards: IFS Logistics, IFS Broker, IFS HPC, IFS Global Markets, IFS Cash and Carry/Wholesale, IFS PACsecure and IFS Food Store. Our goal is to support you in the quality assurance of as many of your products as possible. You can find all of the above standards, including detailed information, on our website.
In summary, IFS offers the following:
- Resource savings by reducing your own audits
- Greater scope than statutory provisions
- Opportunities to provide input • Reduction in the number of recalls and complaints
- A clear and comprehensive database to search for suppliers and establish their certification status
