IFS uses a standard used worldwide in the consumer goods industry in order to be able to uniquely identify all parties involved in the supply chain. This will simplify communication between industry, trade and logistics in the long term.
The GLN is like a fingerprint in national and international business transactions. With the GLN, companies and parts of companies, such as production sites or warehouses, can be uniquely identified. The GLN consists of 13 digits and is the key to the company information stored in databases.
